Talent Alert: ACT Labor commits to Australia’s biggest battery

THE ACT government’s election commitment to deliver at least 250MW of battery storage has been welcomed by health experts, battery technology companies and grid integration specialists.

The size of this distributed battery dwarfs Australia’s current biggest battery at Hornsdale in South Australia (150MW).

The following ACT-based spokespeople can talk about the impacts of the announcement:

• Dr Bjorn Sturmberg, ANU Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program which pioneers integrating energy storage into electricity grids and markets, can talk about the significance of this battery’s size and where this put Australia on the global battery map

• Dr Arnagretta Hunter, ACT chairperson of Doctors for the Environment Australia and a member of the Climate and Health Alliance, can speak on the health advantages of a clean energy transition

• Dean Spaccavento, co-founder at Reposit Power, a company that helps battery owners make the most of the batteries they have, and can talk his experiences of batteries completely changing how people think about energy
